Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was born in 1883 and spent the
rest of his life as a dedicated activist and Indian revolutionary. He established the Abhinav Bharat Society and the Free India Society. Swatantryaveer Savarkar was
his given name. As a writer, he also penned a piece named 'The Indian War of Independence,'' which provided wonderful information about the 1857 Indian revolt.
